I've been an advertiser on The Knot for a while now.  It's a cool resource for brides and enables me to connect with many other professionals in my field.  Well in August I was asked to photograph their yearly Industry Networking Event at the House of Blues!  You can see some of the photos published in this issue of The Knot Texas magazine.  You can also view more photos online here.

So I thought I'd get one last post in before the end of the year.  It's great being able to go through my blog and see how much I've accomplished this year.  It's has also been a good reminder that a lot of my goals haven't been accomplished yet, thus giving me motivation to work even harder next year!  Not just on business goals either, but person ones as well.

So here's to a great 2010!  Hope everyone has fun and please be safe tonight!

On a side note, I got a Holga film camera last year and I finally got around to developing a few rolls of film that I've shot over the past 2 years.  It has definitely been a learning experience using this camera...shooting medium format film is soooo foreign to me.  Haha, I'm very thankful for digital cameras.  I don't know how the film guys did it back then.  Anyway, here are a few shots that I managed to take that were at least usable...enjoy!

Interesting! Developed them yourself? I still have to go to AZ photo and develop prints for my Yashica!

One of my best friends, Chris Wineinger, shot and engagement session for Alex and I over the weekend.  Chris is a longtime friend and an awesome photographer based out of Houston (who's also engaged...we decided to trade engagement sessions so I will photograph his soon).  He'll also be officiating our wedding in April, I guess he's a jack of all trades!  We had a lot of fun on the shoot and it was the perfect opportunity for me to show off some of my dance moves!  Thanks man, Shake and Bake ;)

Love them! I wish I had engagement portraits like this of me and Kacie. Most photographers I know have awful wedding photography. This will not be true of you, my friend. :)

Film: Rocky
Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Talia Shire, Burt Young, Burgess Meredith
Director: John G. Avildsen
Genre: Drama

I posted on my twitter page last week that I was about to watch this movie for the first time.  I know what you're thinking, "You've never seen Rocky before!?!?"  Yeah, that was the general reaction that I got.  I've seen bits and pieces before like the famous run up the "Rocky Steps" but never the whole film.  I'm glad I finally set down and watched it.

I thought the movie was great...very inspirational.  I can tell that this story has been copied in tons of other films since 1976, it's a classic story.  I love great storytelling and it definitely delivered.  I was so hooked I stayed up till 4:00 am watching parts 2 & 3 on my netflix Roku player.  My initial reaction was "Rocky was robbed...Apollo totally lost that fight!" so I had to stay up and see how the next few fights ended.  The first was unquestionably the best but the rest were entertaining as well.

Over the last few weeks I've been thinking about how much I love films and consequently, I have been watching about 2-3 movies a day!  I've been getting lots of great ideas for scripts of my own and have been inspired to direct another short film; something I haven't done since I graduated college in 07.  I'm really looking forward to getting back into it!
